What you will find in a PlaceNet Matching
System:
|
A site that can only be accessed by
the the individuals and agency's that you choose. All accesses are
logged so that you will know who used the database, when and for how
long. Passwords are of the secure type and are changed by a central
PlaceNet administrator at least every 90 days. Passwords are never
emailed. Each new password is provided by telephone to the person
entitled to its use. Sites reside on a secure server, with data
encrypted at each end before it is sent, and then unencrypted after it
is received. |
|
The option of including a Public site where
people on the Internet can search for a child for adoption. This area
would list only those children you approve for publicity. Public sites
are great places to recruit the families that children most need, and to
use as "posters" or "flyers" to give out information about the adoption
of foster care process and programs. (See one of our example sites
below) |
|
A central database with a wide variety of
data of individual children, families and agencies, stored in separate
but related tables. Data fields supplied with our primary system are
more than sufficient for detailed searches on a large number of records,
and each field can be customized to our client's specific needs.
|
|
An area where your social workers can enter
their children and families' information directly into the secure
database, including linking the records of siblings so that they will be
considered together. Workers can elect to allow a child's record to be
open to the public (if you have decided to offer a public site). Your
central staff will call that worker before the record is opened up, to
insure that consent for publicity of the child has been obtained.
Here's an
example of a typical search for a family for a child: |
|
An
eight year old boy needs to be placed with a family who will
accept his younger brother. They are both Hispanic. The family
also must accept his history and issues, including drug exposure,
attachment issues, parental mental illness, a medical condition
and ADHD. They must be comfortable with his legal status of
Concurrent Planning, and able to work with parental visits. they
must live in the northern region of your State, and preferably in
the 989 area code. |
|
The system will then show you
only those families that meet those criteria. When you go on to look at
the prospective family's page you receive much more information about
them, including a photograph, a narrative description, whether they have
children already at home, and which gender and ages, how much experience
they have caring for children, specific conditions and issues that they
wish to avoid, and full details about the agency, including a website
link. If you want to proceed with this possible match you complete a
brief form about your child and click a button. Full details about the
possible match are automatically sent to the family's social worker, who
will get back to you if interested. |
Here's an example of a
typical search for a child for a family: |
|
A
family has been approved for placement of child of either
gender, between the ages of 4 and 8. They can accept up to three
related children. They are not able to consider history or issues
such as mental retardation, medical conditions, aggression,
sexualized behavior or fetal alcohol syndrome or effects. They
have limited themselves to children whose ethnicity is African
American(or mixed) or Asian (or mixed). They want children from
their own region of the State. |
|
|
The system will then show you
only those children that meet those criteria. When you go on to look at
the prospective child's page you receive much more information,
including a photograph, a narrative description, links to the pages of
any siblings to be placed together, specific conditions and issues that
the child presents, the child's legal status and parental visit
requirements, and full details about the agency, including a website
link. You may also hear some audio or watch a video clip. Here are some
examples (videos are
